Ultrasound vs. XRAY

Subject: Ultrasound vs. XRAY Wed Mar 20, 2013 12:24 pm

I called two different VET clinics para dun sa pregnant dachshund namin... Yung isa, they only offer XRAY (makikita if fully developed ang pups)... yung isa naman, Ultrasound(makikita kung may heartbeat) lang. Mejo limited kasi budget ko so hindi ko kaya both. Iniisip ko kung ano ang mas important?

Bakit nyo po gusto ipa UTZ/xray ang dog nyo?
May mga advantages/disadvantages po kasi bawat isa, pero i voted for UTZ kasi its much safer than xray, but more expensive

She's pregnant and we're not sure kelan siya manganganak, kung ok ba mga pups niya, or if buntis ba talaga siya... we just want to make sure para alam namin sana gagawin....

Kung early gestation po kasi risky ang xray because of the radiation unlike UTZ that emits sound lang, IMO, kung di po kayo sure na buntis sya, or kung gusto nyo malaman ang kalagayan ng pups, UTZ po, pero kung gusto nyo po malaman ang pup count and ang maturity (thru ossification ng bones) xray po, pero during late gestation na, aldo ang UTZ is skill dependent, meaning depende rin sa skill ng mag u-ultrasound, kung talagang magaling sya, pwede nya malaman ang head count ang maturity

depende po yun mam if ano gusto nyo makita ( searching for sa results) :

X-ray - makikita ang bones ng puppies , kung ilan sila and if ever my deformities pertaining sa bone structure... need ng ilang plates (shots) bago mo macount lahat and madetect kung may deformity

*cheap

Utrasound- mas clear yung morphology ng Pups (outline) ng structures nila and heartbeat... pati ibang organs kita basta ang mgperform ng procedure ay expert

* expensive

Im no expert in dogs but in the Human Hospital we dont advice Xrays to pregnant Patients but its best to use Ultrasoun (UTZ) ... ang pinakamain reason po doon is radiation ... Xrays = radiation and UTZ =Sound waves ....Gud luck sa upcoming puppies

We chose the ultrasound na po. It's really nice to watch the puppies' hearts beat. Fascinating. Though hindi kami nabigyan ng exact count, tama naman ang assumption ng vet. 3 heart beats yung kitang kita, pero 4 ang puppies na lumabas last Friday. =) Thank you for help, peepz! I'm now a proud grandma! (^___^)
