Tannic Acid / Tannin

I've been using leaf litter and leaves as substrates for quite some time now then one day napansin ko ung isang dahon na nababad sa water bowl ng skinks ko that turned the water into a pale brown/yellow/green color (sorry colorblind kasi ako sa pale/dark hues so i cant tell for sure). na-bother ako sa safety ng pets ko after that so i researched.

now i use naturally induced and diluted tannic acid by boiling dried talisay leaves for 5 minutes then rinse the leaves and iwan mo lang sa inuman ng tubig. pag kumulay na alisin mo na dahon or use 1 part water na matagal pinagbabaran ng driftwood mixed with 1 part fresh water.

in fairness, safe (and beneficial to some sp.) siya for freshwater fish, hermit crabs, newts and reptiles. ang kaso it causes a darker coloration.

if you plan on doing so dapat super diluted or once a week lang ipainom sa pets.
