A few setup problems Empty
PostSubject: A few setup problems   A few setup problems I_icon_minitimeFri Aug 17, 2012 6:10 am

I've encountered a problem regarding s humidity ng large tank, i have a 50 gallon tank na pinacut ko ng onti mga 1/4, i wanted to keep a colony of Emps ksi. i used the false bottom setup gravel then ung organic substrate na nabibili sa cartimar because i'll put live plants, tapos nabasa ko sa isang forum that running water helps maintain humidity,.. so ung water dish nila i used a wide vase filled it with gravel then put a small fountain ung nabibili s mga dept stores.

the first few weeks okay naman no problem. but the following weeks, the substrate began to get wet, i don't know if the water from the false substrate is too much? or if there is too much humidity in the tank?
kaso hindi naman sobra ung humidity ksi there is no condensation on the glass of the tank pero d ako sure,..
tapos nag ka mites pa ung tank sa basa nya, from my research good mites naman daw un,.. pero i want to be sure so i plan to sterilize the substrate

kung masyado madaming water ung false substrate i plan to make a multi layer substrate
1st layer - gravel
2nd layer - organic soil
3rd layer - coco peat
okay lng po kaya un?

tapos okay lang po b s scorp na may T5 na lighting for 6 or 10 hour period? pra mabuhay ung planted plants ko?

for me, you need more vents, usually nagiging problem tlga yan ng glass enclosures, hindi man cguro hlta pero i think sobra ung humidity ng tank mo.
too much water may cause the substrate to be very moist that will be very good grounds para sa mites. hndi nman kealangang sobrang humid ng tank mo for your emps. try to focus on 1 thing muna. tapos saka mo pag combine ung idea.

if you want you could try this

1st layer- gravel
2nd layer rootliike bark aka lalagyan ng plants (you can buy this at garden supplies ng landmark, ace)
3rd layer pitmoss(good for holding water moisture)
4- a combination of coopit and sand

its up to you..

with this setup pede magsettle ung water sa ilalim na mamomonitor mo dhil clear nmn ung side ng enclo mo.

just a suggestion

unt lighting pede nman just put maraming hides for the scorps
