Question re: Pre-moult

Good day fellow PEP Hobbyists!

I'm kinda new in this hobby. I have a juvenile Mexican Fire leg, acquired about 3 weeks ago and it only have eaten twice in my possession. The first successful feeding was about 4 days after i got it, and the other one was after 3 days, and after that second feeding, it already refuses to eat. I fed it superworms. It's about more than a week now.

Could this be a sign of a pre moult?

May I know the physical signs of a Tarantula in Pre-moult stage? My Fireleg have a little pinkish bald spot on its abdomen, is that a sign?

yep it may be a sign, pero sa pagobserve ko sa mga T's ko, pag mejo hindi na cla naggagalaw, refuses to eat and mejo nagbago color nila magmomolt na cla, for ex. ung darlingi, marshali, and avic brau ko nag dark ung kulay, check mo din mabuti bka nagflick yan ng hair. aun ska ewan ko kung applicable to sa ibang t's pero i usualy mist or put water balls in the enclosures when i see the signs of molting, this helps them to have a good humidity. aun pero chek mo padin sa type ng t meron ksi prefer na dry. ska monitor ur t when molting kc bka mag badmolt yan, ung avic ko 3.5 inches na nawalan ng isang leg, tsk2, di ko kc namonitor ng maaus. help them pag mejo nhihirpaan na sla magmolt, like kung mejo hindi matanggal ung exuvium nila help them kc very prone cla sa damage pag nagmomolt un lng po ^^

About sa bad moult, ano po ang best thing to do in case that happens, I mean, they're in a very delicate state during moulting diba? ano ang best way to help the T out of its exuvia in case that happens?

una check mo muna kung may naiwang part sa exuvium, na check ko last time nkaipit pa huli nyang paa, kea un pede mong hilhin paunti unti ung exuvium. best thing to do pa is kung mejo nhihirapan cla sa place nila lipat mo, ung avic ko hindi natanya ung laki nyan , ung avic ko kc nagweb sa buong katwan nyan parang cocoon, aun mejo naging pabaya din ako kea naputulan xa ng paa, tsk2, anyway tutubo namn ulit un, ska ung misting and puting water balls, it helps the ts to molt properly (pampalambot ata un hehe) u can buy water ball gels at divisoria or any school kisses ata name nun ngaun, basta pag lalagay mo xa sa enclosure nila, mejo dapat ala clang access dun , even though non toxic un d padin ntin alam efecto sa mga alaga natin un po hehe, premoult din kc ngaun ung GBBs kong 4 inches, and T ockerti kong 5 inches, i hope iot helps you, GBB( nga pala it hate abasa so i put waterball) hehe

If 2 inch na yung t mo TS pwede ka maglagay ng bottle cap na may water to help humidity. Yung water crystals meron sa sm sa plant section huling bili ko 25 pesos yung pinakamura kaso hindi na crystal form.

Sir Ivo, ano po yung "Water Ball"? sensya na newbie ako di ko alam yan hehe. If ever, san ko dapat ilalagay yun, should it be by the substrate or buried under it?

Sir Trippler, ano po yang water crystal? pareho lang po ba sa water ball? i've been trying to google search it and it seems like those photos shown are not applicable for T's. How often should i mist pala? kasi maginaw dito, I'm from baguio and I think that matagal matuyo ang substrate ko since it's been rainy cold nowadays in here. sensya na po makulit ako, newb kasi, hehe, bear with me nalang mga idol.

just regular misting will do, mist on the walls not on the substrate 2x weekly ang pag mimist Good Luck

TS ganito yung water crystals:

Ginagamit ko siya for feeders instead of cotton balls soaked in water para iwas molds. Yung 24 pesos na nabili ko 3 months ko ng gamit d pa nauubos.

As for misting pareho kami ni Sir Vacuum 2x a week mag mist pero meron pa din akong cap ng mineral water na may tubig sa enclosure basta 2+ inches na ang legspan ng T's ko. Since from Baguio ka(Dyan ako pinanganak, ahehe) pwede na siguro once a week. Trail and error lang TS pag kulang ang once a week e d dagdag lang. Mapapansin mo naman kung masyadong basa na ang substrate mo kung ayaw ng bumaba ng T's mo. Good Luck

Thanks po ulit Sir Trippler, yung water crystal ba kahit ilatag lang sya sa substrate? about dun sa di bumababang T, yun akin nakatambay lang sa ibabaw ng nilagay kong hide, i never misted yet ever since i got it, yun substrate ko is a brick coco peat na nilagyan ko ng konting konti lang na tubig para magmukang parang lupa, so ibig sabihin basang basa yung subs?

Ilagay mo sa dish yung water crystals didikit kc dun substrate mo. Sa substrate naman pigain mo pag wala ng tubig ok na yun.

waterballs nga ung sinabi ni sir trippler, my nabibili nyan sa mga tindahan mlpit sa mga elem skul, panghalaman un, my mga colors din, usualy for feeders nga sila pero good din more maintaining humidity specially for avic species. nga pala sa mga avic meron silng sudden death syndrom, usualy cause nun maling ventilation at humidity, ung ginagwa ko, for slings ung substrate nia binasa ko ng mejo floody na tas may tutungan cxa like plastic plant. dun lng cxa tatambay sa taas, iwas hustle to sa misting proven and tested to sa mga avics ko, good ventilation ska ganun.

bro B. boehmie pala yung T mo na premolt brachys doesnt need too much humidity kahit wag mo na lagyan ng water crystals just keep the substrate dry mist the walls only 2x a week it will work thumbs up

yung bald spot nya sa abdomen, if it turns dark 100% sure na pre-molt yan.. regarding sa diet nya na S.worms, try to mix it with roaches, msyado kasi mataas fats ng S.worms, medyo nanghihina mga T's (based on my experience, with 4 B.beohmeis).. and sa misting nman ok na yung 2x a week, specially now na pre molt sya.

What if hindi pa dark? kagaya palang dyan sa pic? hindi po pre moult yan? kasi the T refuses to eat every now and then.

from what you're saying, pede its preparing already for pre molt. Soon in time magdadarken yun abdomen - which also means its time of molt is really close.

really depends, the bigger the T usually longer. mine from what i remember, longer yun time niya laying upside-down - which went i think at most 3hrs maybe. Then the time of molting out of the old skin process went for an an hour or 2 i think. The T was around 3-4" btw

pa pre molt na yan konting konti ng nalalagas yung hair niya sa abdomen, 2" i think 1 week then 1-2 hrs siyang titihaya to shed the old skin
