Chaerilus sp.

Possibly celebensis. Where did you get it?

Chaerilus sp. its not celebensis, more likely C.philippinus or C.chapmani

What's your basis for the conclusion?

I did some reading and it appears the C. philippinus was a recent addition to the species list based on the paper by Eric Ythier last 2008. The specimens studied were taken from Aparri, North Luzon.

Back in 2006, when C. celebensis was not yet circulating in the hobby. We were able to discover a site in Zambales where we collected specimens. We had it identified through a forum in arachnoboards and I have also subsequently sent specimens abroad for identification. Majority of those who identified agreed that it is C. celebensis.

I have also caught some specimens in Bataan.

Could it be possible that the species from Aparri and Bataan/Zambales are different?

Similar to the case of C. exilicauda and C. sculpturatus.

Or there is a possibility that this two "different" species will eventually be declared as synonymous.

Similar to H. fulvipes and H. madraspatensis

This is the reason why I asked for locality in my previous post.

One thing I learned throughout the years in this hobby. Photo ID is always difficult , especially for uncommon species and scientific names are reclassified depending on the scientist who is studying them. The species name is only retained if the majority of the scientific community agrees.

Hope this clarifies.
