found this cute fellow .. seems like a huntman to me ... and it kept smiling at me :P

yes .. it is for real .... the plant and flower is fake but other than that the spider is real .. lol ...

the marks on it butt seems like a smiling face lol ...

Where did u got it? Its very cute hahaha it looks like a huntsman but 1st time i ever saw this spider.

lol.. yes indeed .. it my first time that i saw it too ... my friend caught it in one of the herping trip for scorpion recently
currently i am looking for more information for it ..... hoping to be able to get more information on it and maybe start a breeding group

it got a very nice color of bright yellow and marking that seems to be of a smiling face .. i am hoping to that i am able to breed more and share around

Eight-spotted Crab Spider

National Status: Endangered (EN)

Habitat and Ecology: This species apparently lives among foliage of small trees.
Distribution: This species was first described from Padang in Sumatra. Two
specimens were recorded in Singapore in 1924, one was found in "Tanah Merah"
and the other in a retreat formed by three fastened leaves of a Melastoma bush
at the western edges of the "Mandai Forest Reserve". The specimen pictured
here was photographed in an abandoned rubber estate on Pulau Ubin in 1990.
Since then, the specimen has been found only sporadically, in Bulim, and other
parts of Singapore.

Threats: In Singapore, this is a rare species that may be further threatened
through habitation disturbance and destruction.

Scientific interest and potential value: This is probably among the largest of all
thomisids.

Conservation status: The continued maintenance of the Nature Reserves,
management of parts of Pulau Ubin for conservation, and designation of Nature
Areas under the Singapore development master plan should assist in
conservation of the species.

yes.. i would very much wan to help out this sp. but with current knowledge on this particular specimens there is nothing much i could do to help ...
but still i would try my best to culture this specimen and when time is right . part of the culture would be release back to mother nature while the remaining goes to continue culture and hobbist circle...

hope by doing this.. it can sort of help out the endangered sp and also at the same time providing the hobbist circle with only CB specimens thus not affecting the population numbers from WC sold from over havest
