Male with erect gular flag. Taman Negara, Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia.

This medium-sized gliding lizard inhabits lowland primary rainforest, often close to swamps or other water bodies. It is generally found clinging to larger tree trunks.

The species is easily identified by the five dark bands across the olive green dorsum and the pinkish-orange patagium: in the center of each band are a series of white spots. The gular flag of the male is long, tapered and yellow in color, and that of the female greenish with dark yellow spots.

The Five-banded Gliding Lizard ranges from southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia to Sumatra and Borneo. It was recently found in Singapore's forests.

Family : Agamidae

Size (snout to vent) : 10 cm
