Deworming Puppies



Deworming your dog or puppy is highly recommended even though many resources we have talked to vary in their overall scheduling time. It is important to note that all puppies will have intestinal worms.

Because of this one tiny fact it is very true that all puppies should be dewormed aggressively - starting at about three to four weeks of age with treatments repeating about every 3 weeks at 3, 6, 9 and 12 weeks of age. It is also a good idea to continue the deworming process on the puppy afterwards at least once per month until the puppy is at least 6 months old.

Deworming Small Puppies

* Begin treatment at 2 weeks of age; repeat again at 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. For a puppy that is at increased risk,such as an abandoned puppy, also treat the puppy at 10 and 12 weeks of age, and then monthly until the puppy is at least 6 months old. Afterward, use a heartworm preventive medication that is also effective against hookworms and roundworms as prescribed by your veterinarian.

Deworming Newly Acquired Pets

* Assuming the dog is in good health, worm them immediately, after 2 weeks have passed, and then follow all recommendations listed above.

Deworming Adult Dogs

* Treat these dogs regularly for preventive reasons. Also monitor and eliminate parasites in your pet's environment.

Dog Deworming Schedule

Later on, as the puppy matures, it is a very good idea to put the puppy on a heartworm preventive medication that is also effective in treating hookworms, roundworms and other types of worms.

Just so you'll know, infected puppies shed roundworm and hookworm larvae continuously in their feces. Later on, if they happen to dig or play around in the same area where they pooped previously, they will reinfect themselves. It is good to know that roundworms and hookworms can be treated easily enough with a good quality dewormer.

If your puppy or dog lives in an area where exposure to various kinds of worms is very high it is a good idea to deworm your dog or puppy every three to six months throughout it's life just because. Also, it is important if your dog eats poop from ANY kind of any animal that it should also be treated for hookworms, roundworms and tapeworms as often as every three months.

There are many other kinds of worms that your dog may become infected with such as whip worms and the like. To be sure exactly what kind of worm infestation your pet has, you will need to take you dog (or a stool sample from it) to the veterinarian for a fecal exam.

sir tatlong klase lang kasi yung ginagamit kong dewormer nematocide,wormban,and proxantel yung nematocide and wormban more or less nasa 300 pesos per bottle yung proxantel 55-60 pesos per tablet for me proxantel yung ok gamitin kasi all wormer sya,ask your vet din sir kung ano yung gusto nya i recommend..thanks

di ko po kaya madala pit ko sa vet malaki po la po service,,haha
di kasya sa kotse po,,
kaya ako nalang po sana,,
weight niya po siguro 15-20kg po,,

kaya ako nalang po sana,,

yung nematocide sir kahit walang fasting pwede gamitin pero sa weight ng pitbull mo dapat yung proxantel na gamitin nya be sure lang sir sa weight ng pit mo yung proxantel kasi is 1 tablet for every 10 kilos ang dose kaya kung 20kg sya 2 tablets ang gagamitin mo..repeat mo lang sir every 3 months happy worming

yung nematocide sir kahit walang fasting pwede gamitin pero sa weight ng pitbull mo dapat yung proxantel na gamitin nya be sure lang sir sa weight ng pit mo yung proxantel kasi is 1 tablet for every 10 kilos ang dose kaya kung 20kg sya 2 tablets ang gagamitin mo..repeat mo lang sir every 3 months happy worming

pag syrup kasi sir usually sa puppy lang ginagamit ako kasi pag adult na tablet na yung binibigay ko ask your vet na lang sir kung ano yung pwede nya i recommend

sir im a newbie here.. tanong ko lang kung ano maganda at mura na pang deworm sa new puppies 2 weeks old na shihtzu maltese.. thnnxxx

sir ano ba mga causes ng par purga?? ok lng ba mag tae sya ng dugo after mapurga??? inahin po sya kakapanganak lang.. requerd dw kasi na mapurga yun nanay.. ano po ggwiin ko now gnun nmn na sya???

mga sir normal ba mag tae ang mga bagong porga na puppies 2weeks lng cla.. 4days n ng tatae

Hindi ok na magtae ng dugo ang kahit anong hayop, lalo na kung fresh, dalhin mo na siya agad sa Veterinarian. Bihira sila magtae kapag napurga unless na may amoebiasis din. Huwag magpurga kapag nagtatae na, lalo bibilis ang paggalaw ng bituka ng hayop , hence magtatae lalo, dehydration, then death. Patingnan mo na sa Vet.
